“We have made our contributions and we have taken FUNAAB to a greater height” – Oyewole

Professor Olusola Oyewole‎ on Tuesday bowed out as the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) having spent five years as administrative and academic head of the institution, just as Professor Ololade Enikuomehin was appointed in acting capacity pending the election/appointment of the substantive Vice-Chancellor.

Although, the tenure of immediate Vice Chancellor was riddled with various crises majorly caused by alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of N800 million which prompted some whistle blowers within the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUNAAB Chapter to report to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for which the Vice Chancellor was arraigned, the outgone Vice Chancellor, however, said he did not regret being appointed as Vice Chancellor.

Speaking shortly after the hand-over ceremony that was conducted by the outgone Vice Chancellor in conjunction with the newly appointed Governing Council of the University chaired by Aboki Zhawa, Oyewole expressed no regret to have passed through various challenges and crises while serving as Vice Chancellor, saying he would rather thank God for his achievements as Vice Chancellor.

He said,

“By the grace of God, we have made our contributions and we have taken FUNAAB to a greater height. Earlier, we have gone round the Campus today, and we have seen the various infrastructures that were put in place. We will continue, I am still part of the system and I know that the University is in good hands.

“I handed over to Professor Enikuomehin because the process of appointing the new Vice Chancellor has not been completed, it has just begun. In life, we face challenges, but the challenges that came my way I have been able to overcome them. I have no regret, all I can do is to thank God for His grace and mercy”,

the outgone Vice Chancellor concluded.

BusinessDay reports that Professor Ololade Enikuomehin, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) was appointed in acting capacity by the outgone Vice Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole and Aboki Zhawa, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governor Council in the presence of the Council members, to oversee ‎both administrative and academic affairs of the University pending the appointment of new substantive Vice Chancllor of the University.

“Dear President, please try not to be found wanting” – itz Lucas

It’s clear at this point in time that the Da Silva led government has come under lots of backlash from thousands of students following the transportation challenges in the university environment.
In this article, I did an analysis of the administration so far and you really want to know about it.

This government started with lots of promise, engaging relevant authority in tackling issues but it since then failed to highlight its achievements, maybe in a bid not to be distracted.
The campaign against drug abuse and prostitution is one area that has enjoyed lots of support and success.
The Welfarism of the students including proper arrangements for freshmen to ensure a degree of ease during registration process Issa banger too.
Marking of the various walk ways in school with the plan to construct sheds(subject to approval by the SRA) is in the pipeline.
But the biggest impact of them all is the utilization of the human resources including learned students from the engineering wing of the university to repair bad roads(got materials from the quarry, got equipment from the school management). THIS IS WHAT THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT CAN’T DO.
In an unofficial interview with the president, it was clear that the issue of transportation was the biggest headache BUT let me salute the THINK TANKS in his administration.
He spoke about decongestion of the camp bus stop, change of time table and a raid to the office of the NURTW boss in Ogun state, DJANGO.
He went on to explain how he solicited for help from the departmental and college associations who he charged to donate bags of cement for the actualization of the road repair project. This in itself is a smart move has a good number of the associations collect dues to do books, organize symposium and arrange item 7.
As at the time of compiling this report, 10 mini buses have started working, time table have been changed and Camp has been decongested to an appreciable extent.

Meanwhile, the repair of mancot buses hasn’t moved so fast due to the internal politics and the red tape involved in accessing funds from REMITA but he gave the Assurance that the school vice chancellor is really working towards making sure students get to school modestly.

After saying all of these, you will agree with me that this government means no harm but wants to work really hard to ensure its members reap the benefits of good governance.

It’s normal to have critics in government but my advice to Mr President is that he shouldn’t listen to any noise that’s not offering a good solution to anything.
On a final note, please Mr President kindly direct the sports secretary of the union to visit the sports complex and see what it has turned to.

Dear President, please try not to be found wanting and same goes for your subordinates. I won’t hesitate to write strongly against any misdemeanor with facts and evidences.

Confession Of A Lost Lover | Written by Ajayi Olubiyi

It was a sultry afternoon. Everyone at Morisot bus/stop was demanding to get a taxi down to its destination. A few taxis happen to be on the road. Finally He got a cab. He sat at the front sit right next to the driver. He looked at his back to greet the passengers riding with him too.

What is the cost of the transport fare?

He asked.

It’s just 25cents, I don’t expect you to beat the price down, if you don’t mind you can get down, there are alot of passengers who are ready to pay 30-35cents just for a closer distant

the driver said reluctantly.

I am alighting at the next junction

A passenger inside the taxi added.

I am going Hila’s way, can I board in?

A beautiful lady asked just outside the car from where I was.

You can enter its 20cents. I am sure you are not relaxed; just manage this space

A passenger at the back seat told her.

Thank you very much; I am a little comfortable now.

she responded

Young girl, you can come to the front seat, come and seat with this gentle man, this
place is a bit stress-free than that place

The driver said. He looked at the driver with a frown, he was kind of happy though, that was an opportunity to talk to a damsel.

Are you comfortable now

He asked her

Yes thanks, I am

She responded. The cab was silent once again. Everyone was trying to enjoy its ride; after all it has been a long day. He looked up to
her face and said.

Hi, My name is Damon, am sure you must be tired from your look, it’s just some distance to your junction. What’s your name if I may ask?

She was reluctant to answer; she knew everyone was trying to listen to how they were going to get along.

My name is Aubrey.

Whoa, that’s a nice name. I guess you are a twin. Your parent is really
lucky.

I am a student in this state, am actually going to my hostel, and you are a student too
right?

He asked.

No, i am aspiring to be one.

Then my institution will be best for you. I
guess you are a science student, you look brilliant.

Oh, thanks, I don’t think I like your
school, it’s close to my family house, I want to go to a distant school, far away from
home

, she said.

Well, you can still change your mind. My school is really nice. You are
getting off the taxi soon. Can I have your cell phone number?

No, I don’t give my number to strangers

. She quoted.

I don’t think we are still strangers anymore, we are getting along already. Okay let me give you my number so you call me.

I said NO, I still can’t give you.

Now she was more serious than before. There was no way out again. Damon thought for a while. He opened his pin chat application, gave it to her to input her username.

I am sure you won’t say NO to this
again. I just want us to chat some other time. You are really cool and I will love to talk to you again.

She agreed and typed the username on His phone.

I will come online immediately when I get home. Do take care of yourself and regards to your twin.

The driver looked at the both of them and told Demon he was going to pay an extra fee for talking to a new girl in his taxi. The both of them chuckled. Damon watched her get down from the taxi. He has seen a blessing sent from above. They waved to each other and parted ways. The driver zoomed off. Damon looked complete as a gentle man for the first time in his life.

To be continued…..
